MY STORY

My name is Abby and I live in the Chicago suburbs with my husband, David, our two kids, Teddy and Lorelei and our two dachshunds, Poppy and Otto. Growing up, I was a perfectly average student with a lot of anxiety about going to school. I usually just wouldn't go once I hit middle school. One day in the 7th grade a new girl moved to town and she was in the same boat as me. Average, bored and anxious, but she had an outlet. She would crochet through class and none of the teachers bothered her. I begged her to teach me and she did. The rest is pretty much history. Once I got my drivers license, the first thing I did was drive to Barnes and Nobel and buy crocheting books. I started babysitting during my junior year of high school and all of my money went toward yarn and books. I could not absorb the information or skills fast enough.

I got married shortly out of college and during my first year of teaching, that fire for crocheting died off. I wouldn't pick up a hook again until five years later when my husband and I moved from San Francisco to Chicago shortly after our son was born. I was suddenly a stay at home mom trapped inside during a midwest winter. Then two years later, my daughter was born and my passion for my craft exploded. I couldn't put my hooks down and eventually picked up some knitting needles.

I have now been crocheting for 20 years. I hope this site can be a place of inspirations, teaching and growing. I'm so excited you are here
